why did i make this?

I built this during the worst year of my life.

In 2020, I was leading teams at Google, launching a coaching business, caring for a sick spouse, and raising two children under two with almost no support. I burned out completely. I had to take medical leave to focus on healing.

I had used every planner on the market. They all shared the same problem, but they were designed around output, not around the human being doing the work. Make a plan, miss it, feel awful, repeat.

So I started building my own. Part planner, part journal, part daily experiment in self-understanding, I used it through my hardest months. I refined it for years. The Life Lab Notebook is the product of my experimentation.

It was made for people (me) who are serious about their lives and also trying to be kind to themselves while achieving .

how it works

Four rhythms. One notebook.

The notebook runs on four planning cadences that build on each other. Spend more time on the longer ones, less on the shorter ones. The daily practice takes about twenty minutes total.

Quarterly Foundation (about four hours, once every thirteen weeks)

This is where you work on the system itself rather than inside it. You revisit your values, sharpen your vision, set goals, and decide which habits and projects deserve attention for the next season. It's slow, deliberate thinking that most planning systems skip entirely.

This is where the quarter's big intentions become concrete priorities for the week ahead. The review half is just as important: you score how the previous week went and reflect on what you'd do differently. It acts as a correction mechanism between quarterly resets.
